The Leader guitar range has been developed to offer the player an instrument that has tremendous tonal capabilities, is lightweight and a visually stunning double cutaway. For over 24 years Höfner has been producing the Green Line range of classical guitars, and now we have added H4800-HGL Leader.

One of our aims with this instrument has been to eliminate as much plastic as possible and to use an environmentally friendly finish. To this end, the plastics used in the head plate, truss rod cover, heel plate, nut, pickup surrounds, dot markers and body binding have all been replaced with non-endangered walnut wood. The tuners and buttons are now metal which can easily be recycled. It is finished in a light wax coat which is not poisonous to the environment and also very easy to repair should that be needed in the future.

The idea of recycling a guitar may seem a little odd and we are not expecting you to recycle your guitar very soon, in fact, we hope you will keep it and use it for many, many years. But there will come a time, be that long into the future when its useful life has ended, and it needs to be recycled. With almost no plastics this guitar can more easily be recycled than most traditional electric guitars. We think this is important and we believe that you do too.

The Green Line version, like all Leader models, is a semi hollow body construction but incorporates a solid spruce centre block, for better sustain and to avoid feedback. The semi hollow body makes for a lightweight instrument that can happily be played for hours. The centre block is a unique Höfner design that allows us to build the guitar without creating any opening in the back to install the potentiometer and switch. 

We have fitted pickups from a small Bavarian company, NoWaxx, dedicated to producing the very best hand-wound products. At the neck is a classic P90 while at the bridge is a beefy humbucker, both of which were created exclusively to our specifications. These two allow the player an extensive range of tones to suit every mood. Part of the design brief was to keep the controls simple but effective. The Leader Green Line has a master volume and a three-way switch. The tuners are of the enclosed type, from Schaller. A traditional stop tailpiece and tunamatic bridge are used to give the best tonal characteristics for this type of guitar.
